  • 2015-2016:  IKY-Siemens Fellowship of Excellence for Postgraduate Studies to Dr. Nikolaos Kokras.
  • 2015-2016: IKYDA 2015 program for the promotion of the exchange and scientific cooperation between Greece and Germany, in collaboration with Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry in Munich (Dr. M. Filiou), entitled “Depression: Can a cancer drug be used for rapid antidepressant treatment?”
  • 2013-2015: member of a consortium at the research grant entitled “Fish oil replacement in aquafeeds for seabream and seabass with alternative lipid sources” (FORIA), Cooperation grant co-funded by the Greek General Secretariat of Research and Technology and European Union. Co-ordinator Assoc. Prof. H. Milieu.
  • 2012-2015: partner at the research grant entitled: “Development and Screening of Novel beta Αmyloid Peptide Inhibitors for Alzheimer’s Disease (TREAT--AD)”. Isolation and screening of natural compounds (e.g. oleuropaine, TC4) derived from Greek plants (e.g. olives and Crocus Sativus) for the treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease, part of the National action “Large Scale Cooperation Projects”, funded by the General Secretariat of Research and Technology, Greek Ministry of Development. Co-ordinator Assoc. Prof. A. Tsarbopoulos. In collaboration with Prof. A. L. Skaltsounis and Prof. E. Mikros. 
  • 2012-2015: “Novel mechanisms of stress-induced mood and cognitive impairments- the road from depression to Alzheimer’s disease”, funded by the General Secretariat of Research and Technology, Greek Ministry of Education.
  • 2012: IBRO short-stay grant (attributed to the PhD student V. Kafetzopoulos), in collaboration with the ICVS, School of Health Sciences at the University of Minho in Portugal, entitled: “Short-circuiting the stress circuit: nucleus reuniens”, funded by International Brain Research Organization, IBRO.
  • 2011: bilateral educational program between Greece and Portugal, funded by the Greek Ministry of Education. Visit at the the laboratory of Prof. Nuno Sousa at the Life and Health Science Research Institute (ICVS), School of Health Sciences at the University of Minho in Portugal for establishment of research collaboration.
  • 2007-2010: Investigation of the role of adult hippocampal neurogenesis in stress and learning in female and male rats. Outgoing Marie Curie fellowship “Neurogenesis in the female Brain: a link to depression in women”, funded by European Union, FP6-2005/039087, (2007-2010) to Dr. C.   • Neurotransmitter analysis in the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex of SSRI-treated pregnant rats and their offsprings. In collaboration with Dr. J. Pawluski, INSERM, France
