Western blot analysis and immunohistrochemistry in rat and mouse brain tissue. Protein assays include detection of proteins, such as tau, 5-HT1A, GR etc
Immunohistochemical studies are performed in coronal sections of the brain cut in a cryostat. The free-floating technique is preferred with the use of several commercially-available antibodies for labeling of the serotonergic and other systems.
Dr. Dalla has performed adult neurogenesis studies in the rat hippocampus during her post-doctoral studies at Rutgers University of New Jersey. The newly-proliferated cells are labeled with BrdU, whereas double-labeling can be performed with DCX or other markers.
