Monoamine Assays

The Neuropsychopharmacology group has 20 years experience in analyzing monoamines in brain-derived samples (tissue and CSF) with high performance liquid chromatography with electrochemical detector (HPLC-ED). Routine analysis includes analysis of neurotransmitters noradrenaline, dopamine (DA), serotonin (5-HT) and various metabolites (DOPAC, HVA, 5-HIAA, 3-MT). The monoamines can also be determined in the blood or other animal or human fluids.

Aminoacid Assays

Other analyses with HPLC-ED include assays of aminoacids, such as the neurotransmitters glutamate and GABA. In the same analysis other aminoacids are also analyzed, such as glutamine, aspartate acid, histidine, serine, taurine and arginine.

Under Development

The Neuropsychopharmacology group is developing new analytical techniques, in collaboration with the Pharmacy School and the clinics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
